Ashtanga Yoga

Traditional Mysore Style.

Ashtanga Yoga Mysore Style is an individual practice in a group setting, which allows you to learn the practice of Yoga in your time. Its core principle is the focused combination of breath and movement, Vinyasa. This combination turns the practice into a moving meditation. As a (private) teacher, I support you to develop your own practice, strictly following the sequence, yet tailored to your needs.

“And this practice becomes firmly rooted when it’s cultivated skilfully and continuously for a long time.”

Private Yoga Classes: How does Ashtanga Yoga work?

Tom and Julia Austin practicing Ashtanga Yoga Intermediate Series

Ashtanga Yoga is a holistic Yoga practice that can improve mental and physical well-being. Thanks to the naturally individual approach, it is suitable for all body shapes, fitness levels and life circumstances, for people with or without previous Yoga experience.

Essentially, the practice is about stilling the mind through working with breath and movement. By challenging ourselves mentally and physically, it can fundamentally change the way we relate to our bodies, minds, emotions and to the world.

Ashtanga Yoga is a systematised method. Although we stick to a repetitive sequence, that strengthens and stretches the whole body, the postures and movements will not look the same for each individual practitioner. Instead, the practice is tailored according to a student's requirements.

As a teacher, I guide you and help you 1on1 to establish a sustainable asana self-practice, that you can integrate into your daily life. Practiced consistently, the practice of Ashtanga Yoga will make you physically and mentally stronger and establish a high level of discipline and focus, that you can take from the mat into your daily life.
